Seen here at N. Villere Street Backyard in New Orleans, the traveling Gembrokers put on a stellar performance. News of their presence had traveled around the minds of many a New Orleanian, and culminated in a juicy gathering. There were french people, tall people, tired people, drunk people and stylish people listening and laughing. Two dogs were playing. The moon could be seen the east, risen in its almost fullness. I thought of them, having made it so far, returning home in their non-air-conitioned van. It was then that Amelia Baker announced to the crowd that, in fact, The Gembrokers are corporately owned by Diamond Brand. I felt such pride in the business, knowing that the words of so many beautiful songs are actually trademarked by this sparkling industry.
